Iain McGilchrist uses patients of the split brain operation to explore the differences in how the hemispheres act together and when separated. He argues that the division of the brain into two hemispheres is essential to human existence so that we can make and compare vastly different versions of the world with quite different priorities and values. He also explains that it is the brain together that preforms every type of function, not the separate hemispheres. The basic functions include reason, emotion, language and imagery. The aim of this animation is to contain two conflicting view points that form one view point we can recognise as reality.
